Lights on van Eyck

8 June 2020 to 30 June 2021

Ghent's St. Nicholas church is the impressive location for a unique blend of multimedia art, music and video mapping. British artist, Mat Collishaw, has composed this digital and musical reinterpretation of the Ghent Altarpiece, with the help of the expertise of Van Eyck expert Prof. Dr. Jan Dumolyn. An immersive video mapping offers a spectacle of light throughout the church. Live performances complement the event.

This multimedia experience is aimed at a broad audience of all ages: families, individuals, groups, art lovers, as well as technology enthusiasts. The exceptional light project in the city centre of Ghent is a cooperation between Mankind and CREATE.eu. Both of them have already impressed the audience with their dancing robot arms and their fire-breathing dragon, at the last Ghent Light Festival in 2018.
